Marc Bolan saved my life - should I say more - Marc came and spoke words and sounds I never heard nor knew existed before. I was exhilarated and felt alive again and knew "If I grew I do" and chalked the bad time i was going through and related them to the magical words he said to me - it all made sense. I was going through a life experience (Teenage lust) that would pass. In all his "finery and flowery words" he made more sense than any other "Pointed" musician had before. After an impact like that in ones life their importance can not disappear or lessen.

Marc came into my life as a complete and utter surprise ... From the moment I heard that sweet and unique voice of his I was hooked.. I just knew there was no turning back. I could really relate to him and some of the things he spoke about in his lyrics no matter how "mystical" they may have been. Marc and his music helped get through some really rough times in my life and I'll always be thankful for that.

I was a 13 year old kid, music meant nothing to me, although all my friends were into one type of music or another. I felt a little left out to be honest. I went along to a Radio 1 club gig just to keep a friend company. The DJ. Emperor Rosco, played "a new single" Ride A White Swan, half way through the show and that was it, the start of a beautiful relationship. Since then he's guided me through the ups and downs of my life and continues to do so.

He's the only one I've listened to all those 27 long years without getting tired. Am I tired of listening to an album ? No problem I just load another one in the cd tray and I always get pleasure again. Really, from anyone else I, at least, stop before 20 listenings. Marc I never stopped and I'm still thursty.

The music's fantastic. Even 30 years later it sounds fresh and innovative and has aged well. Marc Bolan as a rock star always had an extra depth lacking in many others. Like a top actor, he knew how to play the role with a certain panache. All the best!

And to read your testimonies just confirms this mystical fact. Marc Bolan, King of the Mods, Darling of the Underground, Electric Warrior, Originator of Glam Rock, Godfather of Punk, Master Showman, voice of a generation and author of a thousand Mind Poems, still, to this day, reaches the hearts and minds of thousands of people all over the world.
On the World Wide Web alone Marc has dozens of dedicated sites while thousands upon thousands of pages refer to his name and his music. Many of these "fans" are not old die-hards - Marc's career spanned a brief ten years from 1967 to 1977 yet many people have discovered Marc in the '80s and '90s finding a timeless quality in his music that transcends a mere Pop or Rock categorisation. Why? Hell, I don't know, who am I to comment on a pansocial phenomenon like Marc Bolan? Charisma? He had no shortage of that. The music or the lyrics? Or maybe the super-charged sexual urgency it conveys...? No - it's more than all of that. Much more. The phenomenon that is Marc Bolan is far greater than the sum of its parts. Naturally, whatever I say it's going to be laced with personal opinion. Often I find this is the case - Marc IS a personal experience. But I'm not alone - those that have "a little Marc in their hearts" seem to harbour a distinctly individual, personal and unbreakable attachment to the man and his music. Many people could recall in vivid detail "the first time I heard Marc Bolan..." and would go on to relate how his voice, the music, the guitar sound etc had "touched" them urging them to find out more. Indeed we all still suffer from that! It's an appetite that shall never be satisfied.

Marc's appearance defines a real turning point for me.. all towards something better I'm happy to add. I've become a much better person because of his influence and there's not a moment that goes by that I don't feel his presence and know he's watching over me. His music has become a real staple in my life.

For me Marc was one of the very few musicians to ever capture pure magic on tape. He was the Wizard when he was in the recording studio and i have never heard anyone who could do overdubs with himself like Marc could. In a Hundred years they will look back and compare
him as the Mozart of his time.
